Excerpt

Thank you for joining me to celebrate the release of my newest m/m romance, Home for a Cowboy, the first book in my brand new cowboy romance trilogy. It features a friends to lovers, opposites attract romance, lots of stargazing, sexy times in the hay, and pining for days! And thank you to Joyfully Jay for allowing me to briefly take over the blog. Today, I’ve come equipped with an exclusive excerpt full of all the mushy feelings Marco has for Las. Check it out below!

There were new vendors that hadn’t been here previously. A woman selling glass jewelry. An older couple selling pies. An artist drawing a caricature of a teenage couple. A farm from the nearest town selling fresh produce.

Inevitably, they ended up at the tent taking up two vendor spots at the end of a row. Las gave a chin nod to Austin, who was busy talking to a tall man about Austin’s age, with a long face, wide forehead, small eyes, dark chocolate-colored hair, and a smile that dimpled his stubbled cheeks. Without pausing in conversation, Austin and the other guy waved back.

“Who’s that guy?” Marco asked.

“That’s Cal. My mom’s foreman. Also Austin’s best friend.”

Stepping into Austin’s tent, Marco beelined for the stand next to Austin’s desk that held the prints.

“Didn’t you buy one last week?” Las asked.

And the week before that. “So?”

Last bumped their shoulders together. “I’m teasing.” He didn’t move, his shoulder so warm against Marco’s through their T-shirts that Marco couldn’t focus on anything else. He browsed through the prints without really seeing them, barely noting colors and shadows.

Las was touching him. Again.

Ever since their night under the stars last week, Las had been touching him more frequently. Shoulders wedged together, like now. Fingertips to the back of Marco’s hand. A hand squeezing his arm. Fingers splayed over his lower back. A love tap to his asscheek to get him moving.

It was just enough for Marco to want more. Anything. He’d take it all. Please.

In the black of that night, lying side by side underneath the Big and Little Dippers, Marco had almost asked Las about the flirting thing. But then he’d chickened out, afraid of the answer. Don’t read too much into it, I’m like that with everyone scared him just as much as I like you, Marco. The former would crush his optimism, his hope. The latter meant heartbreak at the end of the summer.

And that was when Marco had clued in to something Las had once said: What’s the point when they’ll be gone at the end of their contract?

Las didn’t want to get involved with anyone who wasn’t going to stick around.

Marco didn’t blame him, especially not after what had happened with Ben. Las was understandably gun-shy.

But at the same time, they were both here, right now.

And contrary to his fears, he didn’t think Las was a flirt with everyone. He’d seen evidence to the contrary for two weeks: when Las had unexpectedly shown up at the staff dining room for dinner and chatted with some of the other trail guides; earlier this week when he’d joined the seasonal staff at the fire pit; and just yesterday when he’d sat with Marco and Reid on the front steps of their cabin, hanging out.

Las was polite. He laughed. He shared stories.

He didn’t flirt.

Except with Marco.

Stifling a grin, he leaned his own weight onto Las and was rewarded with a small smile and an averted gaze that made his stomach flip and bounce into outer space.

“Back again?”

They sprung apart. Las shoved his hands in his pockets and cleared his throat. Marco clutched a print to his chest.

Las doesn’t date seasonal workers. Marco’s on a three-month contract.

Lassiter Windsor-March has been planning for his future for as long as he can remember and he knows exactly where that future lies: at his family’s ranch in Wyoming. What doesn’t lie in his future is a summer fling with one of the seasonal workers—they never stick around.

Even if one of those workers is the college crush he’s invited to work a summer job at the ranch.

Marco Terlizzese is as laissez-faire as Las isn’t. He might not know where he’ll be once his contract with Windsor Ranch is up, but he knows three months is plenty of time to get his long-time crush to agree to go out with him.

Amid a starry summer sky, their chemistry ignites as feelings deepen, forcing Las and Marco to decide where they truly belong.
