Today I am so pleased to welcome Brigham Vaughn to Joyfully Jay. Brigham has come to talk to us about her latest release, Off-Balance. She has also brought along books to give away. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
Hello, everyone! *waves*
Thank you to Jay for allowing me to stop by today to talk to you about my upcoming release.
In 2015, I released a novella called Equals. I’d intended it to be a standalone story, but Russ and Stephen were very intriguing, and their backstories told me there was a whole lot more to be explored.
Over the next year, I wrote three more novellas. I moved on to other projects but there was always something in the back of my head saying, “But what if there’s more to tell?”.
Well, recently the ‘what ifs’ have grown loud enough to prompt me to tell that final piece of their story. Now that I’ve been published for nearly seven years *gulps* I’ve realized that while the Equals Series had wonderful characters and some compelling storylines, the execution was a bit … clumsy. My skills have grown a lot in that time and if I was going to continue their story, I needed to make sure it was perfect from beginning to end.
I took those four novellas and re-worked them into two novels with an additional 50k of content that fully fleshes out their stories. I am currently writing the final and totally brand-new novel and I am so, so pleased to be exploring that world again. As always, Russ and Stephen are a joy to write (even when their lives get rough) and I finally feel like their story is exactly what I always hoped it would be, an exploration of the evolution of their relationship.
Now christened The Peachtree Series, Off-Balance follows them from a chance encounter over a cup of spilled coffee to figuring out how to navigate a twenty-year age gap and huge difference in income, to what it means to be a full partner in a relationship.
Love in the Balance takes them to the next step as they meet each other’s families and decide if marriage is right for them.
Full-Balance rounds the story out by exploring the challenges brought on by taking in a teenage foster kid who desperately needs the love and stability they can offer.
Book 1 is available now on Amazon, Book 2 will be released August 24th, and Book 3 in mid-September. All books are available to read through Kindle Unlimited.
I hope you’ll join me on the journey through Russ and Stephen’s life together. I know you won’t regret it.
“I really don’t want to leave,” Russ said with a heavy sigh.
“So don’t go,” Stephen countered
“I do need clothes for tomorrow,” Russ pointed out.
“Then take my car and make a quick trip over there.” Stephen grabbed the back of his head and kissed him hard. “Bring enough for a couple days. A week. However long you want.”
“I’m not driving your car,” Russ countered. “And I just spent two full days here.”
Stephen huffed and rolled his eyes. “You’re a stubborn little shit.”
Russ nodded. “Yep.”
“Are you sick of me? Is that why you want to stay at your own place?” Stephen drew back, his brow furrowing.
“No,” Russ replied, flabbergasted by the idea. He reached out to grasp Stephen’s hand, curling their fingers together and giving him a reassuring squeeze. “Of course I’m not sick of you.”
“So why do you want to stay at your own place tonight? Is your bed more comfortable?”
Russ snorted. “Definitely not.”
“Do you miss your roommate?”
“God, no. I love not dealing with Monty.”
“Then are you being stubborn because you feel like you should go home?”
“Yes,” Russ muttered. “Damn it.”
“You have an extremely rigid idea of how a relationship should work, don’t you?” Stephen mused. He tugged, yanking Russ toward him. Russ went easily until he lay half over Stephen’s body.
“Probably. I’m trying to be sure I don’t wear out my welcome.” He slid a hand up under Stephen’s shirt. “You’re happy to have me here now, but come on, you must like having time to yourself.”
“To be honest, no.” Stephen slid a hand over Russ’s hip to caress his ass, his touch possessive. “I like having you right here.”
Russ groaned, but a part of him was secretly thrilled. “Fine. You take me to my place now, and I’ll stay tonight. But, I’m driving my car back, and I’m only staying another night or two.”
Stephen huffed. “Fine. Whatever makes you happy.” He smacked Russ’s ass, sending a jolt through him. “Compromise, right?”
“Compromise.” Russ nodded.
Love doesn’t always add up.
Russell Bishop is a rising star at Vantage Marketing.
Stephen Parker is the company’s CFO.
A spilled cup of coffee gives them an opportunity to act on the mutual attraction they’ve both been trying to ignore. But attraction isn’t enough with an almost twenty-year age gap and clashing expectations about their relationship.
Fiercely independent, Russ isn’t sure he’s ready for long-term commitment and Stephen is afraid history is repeating itself.
Their relationship reaches a crossroads when the death of Stephen’s father forces them to visit his hometown in southern Georgia. Estranged from his family, Stephen must come to terms with his past and say goodbye to the father whose expectations he could never live up to. The small, conservative town provides its own challenges as Russ must find the strength to be the man Stephen desperately needs.
Note: Off-Balance was previously released as Equals and Partners. It has been completely re-written in a single novel with an additional 20k of brand-new content and fresh edits.
