Today I am so pleased to welcome Morgan Brice to Joyfully Jay. Morgan has come to talk to us about her latest release, Huntsman: Fox Hollow Zodiac Book 1. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

Shifting Gears

Huntsman, the first book in my new Fox Hollow Zodiac series, is full of sexy shifters, hurt/comfort, second chance love, sincere psychics, hot first responders, found family, and fated mates. If you like brave foxes, protective wolves, and a small town full of eccentric-but-loyal friends, this might be the book for you.

Although I love reading shifter romance, this is my first foray into writing it. That’s how I got into writing MM romance too—I read a lot of stories that I loved and decided that I wanted in on the fun. So I came to the category with a pretty good idea of what other books were out there, what resonated with me the most, and how I wanted to make mine a little different.

My other series (Witchbane, Badlands, Treasure Trail and Kings of the Mountain) deal with magic, psychics, mediums, visions, ghosts, and monsters, but the main characters are fully human. Huntsman was a ‘shift’ for me in terms of writing characters who had a dual animal/human nature and who also retained the awareness and opinions of both sides in both their forms.

Another difference is that the Fox Hollow Zodiac series not only recognizes fated mates, but it also matches lovers who have the ideal astrological pairing. I drew from astrology lore to find the set of personality attributes and behaviors that were most complimentary. That just makes the whole made-for-each-other vibe that much stronger!

In the Fox Hollow books, unlike my other series, each novel is a new couple. My other series have a couple that gets together in the first book and then they explore and define their relationship as the stories move forward. I enjoy reading both kinds of books, and the set-up of this series just lent itself to that sort of world building.

Of course, some things don’t change. I’m big on ‘found family’, so the town of Fox Hollow is very special in being a haven for misfit supernatural creatures—especially shifters—as well as a sanctuary for a community of psychics and mediums. It’s a small town with a big heart, where neighbors watch out for each other and rally together in times of crisis.

As with my other urban fantasy stories written under both my Morgan Brice name and my Gail Z. Martin name, the characters all know each other and cross over to each other’s books. There’s just a hint of that in Fox Hollow, but you’ll see more as the series goes forward.

Switching things up and ‘shifting gears’ keeps everything fun and fresh for me. There will be more Fox Hollow books, but in the meantime, watch for a short story set in that world for a September Friends-To-Lovers giveaway on Prolific Works, and a new book set in the same world for a multi-author themed series coming in October!

Blurb

A grieving wolf. A hunted fox. Fated mates, thrown together by chance, and the looming threat of a fabled Huntsman who might tear them apart forever.

Fox shifter Liam Reynard is running from a killer. He uproots his life to find sanctuary in Fox Hollow, deep in the Adirondack Forest in New York.

When his car breaks down, sexy wolf shifter Russ Lowe comes to the rescue, and one touch makes it clear they’re fated mates. Neither man was looking for love, and both are still mending from past heartbreak. When mysterious fires and disappearances threaten Fox Hollow, Liam fears the killer is hot on his trail. Can he protect the town and his fated mate from the evil hunting him, or will an ex-lover’s betrayal cost Liam everything he loves?

Huntsman is full of sexy shifters, hurt/comfort, second chance love, sincere psychics, hot first responders, found family, and fated mates. Intended for readers 18 years of age or older.

Bio

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy male/male paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic fantasy and urban fantasy, and together with co-author hubby Larry N. Martin, steampunk and comedic horror, all of which have less romance, more explosions. Characters from her Gail books make frequent appearances in secondary roles in her Morgan books, and vice versa.

On the rare occasions Morgan isn’t writing, she’s either reading, cooking, or spoiling two very pampered dogs.

Series include Witchbane, Badlands, Treasure Trail, Kings of the Mountain and Fox Hollow. Watch for more in these series, plus new series coming soon!
