Today I am so pleased to welcome Keira Andrews to Joyfully Jay. Keira has come to talk to us about her book A Forbidden Rumspringa. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

It’s hard to believe it’s been six years since I published this book. This was my first self-published novel, and it really kick-started my career as a full-time author. It’s also hard to believe that Isaac and David’s journey from a strict Amish community to living their best lives together in the outside world would never have happened if it wasn’t for Joyfully Jay!

In 2013, Jay posted on Facebook or Twitter about the amusing search engine queries that would bring people to her site. Some of the searches were hilariously unrelated to queer romance, and one was “Sexy Amish men.” We joked that there was clearly an under-served market out there! But it made me tangentially wonder what it would be like to be an LGBTQI+ Amish person.

The idea nagged at me, and I fell down a research rabbit hole. Isaac, David, and their community of Zebulon were born. Even though it was sparked by joking around, Isaac and David’s story is serious and angsty (of course with a happy ending!). I researched extensively and was able to get invaluable insights from former Amish queer people.

I’m very proud of this trilogy, and to celebrate six years out in the world I’m making A Forbidden Rumspringa FREE on Amazon for FIVE DAYS ONLY.

Amazon US
Amazon Universal

The whole trilogy is now also back in Kindle Unlimited by popular request. It’s been a few years, so if you’re a KU subscriber now’s your chance! I know some people are hesitant to try an Amish romance, but this ain’t your grandma’s “clean” Christian Amish romance! Not that there’s anything wrong with that–it’s just a completely different genre. I assure you my books are full of explicit MM sex. 😀

Whispersync the audio!

It’s been a dream come true having Isaac and David’s journey released in audiobooks, and John Solo does an amazing job. Grab A Forbidden Rumspringa free this weekend and you can Whispersync the audio for a bargain.

Remember, it’s FREE on Amazon only until Monday! Thanks again to Jay for having me here and helping inspire this trilogy! <3

Blurb

When two young Amish men find love, will they risk losing everything?

In a world where every detail of life—down to the width of a hat brim—is dictated by God and the all-powerful rules of the community, two men dare to imagine a different way. At 18, Isaac Byler knows little outside the strict Amish settlement of Zebulon, Minnesota, where there is no rumspringa for exploration beyond the boundaries of their insular world. Isaac knows he’ll have to officially join the church and find a wife before too long, but he yearns for something else—something he can’t name.

Dark tragedy has left carpenter David Lantz alone to support his mother and sisters, and he can’t put off joining the church any longer. But when he takes on Isaac as an apprentice, their attraction grows amid the sweat and sawdust. David shares his sinful secrets, and he and Isaac struggle to reconcile their shocking desires with their commitment to faith, family and community.

Now that they’ve found each other, are they willing to lose it all?

This gay romance from Keira Andrews is the first book in a series of forbidden Amish love. It contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, Jane Austen levels of pining, family drama, and of course a happy ending.

Bio

After writing for years yet never really finding the right inspiration, Keira discovered her voice in gay romance, which has become a passion. She writes contemporary, historical, paranormal, and fantasy fiction, and—although she loves delicious angst along the way—Keira firmly believes in happy endings. For as Oscar Wilde once said, “The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what fiction means.”
