Today I am so pleased to welcome Morgan Brice to Joyfully Jay. Morgan has come as part of the Coastal Magic Blog Tour to talk to us about her latest release, Imaginary Lover. She has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!

One Big Happy Family

I love crossovers. As a reader, if I’ve really fallen for a set of characters or a fictional location, I love to see those things pop up in other works by an author. It makes the world feel real and populated, like there’s something beyond the confines of this particular book, real people going on about their business while we focus on the struggles and triumphs of the main characters.

So of course, crossovers are a big thing in my books. All of my Morgan Brice characters know each other and show up in each others’ books—sometimes as a mention or a quick cameo, but in other cases as very involved secondary characters. And since the non-romance urban fantasy I write as Gail Z. Martin has much the same vibe to it as my sexier Morgan stories, those characters show up too!

coastal magic badge 2020Imaginary Lover is my brand new book, about a man who wakes up with no memory of who he is or how he ended up on the side of the road, but his dreams and his gut tell him that something bad happened and that a special someone he can’t remember needs his help urgently. Cory finds his way to Fox Hollow, the setting for my Huntsman book, where he meets some of the characters from that series. Ben Nolan, a private investigator and one of the MCs in my Treasure Trail series, shows up in town as well. There’s also a strong connection to my Kings of the Mountain and Badlands series, as well as my Deadly Curiosities series (under my Gail name). Because there’s a reason for the other people to show up, the crossovers feel natural and organic, part of a bigger world.

On one hand, crossovers make my life as an author a little easier because I don’t have to keep a lot of separate book-worlds straight. But mostly, it makes it more fun because I get to see main characters from one series through he eyes of other characters in different circumstances, which lets me—and the readers—get to know them better. It’s also a reminder that while our attention is focused on the plot in one book, in theory the other characters in different series are going about their daily lives, not just stuck on pause until their next book comes out!

I do my best to make sure that the cameos and crossovers work seamlessly for readers who haven’t read the other/prior books. If you get the reference, great—you’ll enjoy the extra insight. If not, it won’t matter to you and won’t get in the way of the plot. It’s a win all the way around. And if you stumble across characters from one of my other books that intrigue you, it’s easy to find their adventures!

Imaginary Lover is full of dangerous magic, hurt/comfort, brave monster hunters, dark curses, sincere psychics, found family, and forever love.

Blurb

“There’s no time. Remember your imaginary lover….”

Cory Caldwell woke up by the side of the road with no memory of how he got there. He pieces together who he is but has no idea what happened to him.

Dark visions haunt him—flashes of blood, magic, and a brutal fight. Scorching dreams of a faceless lover offer no clues. His gut warns that something urgent is eluding him, and that time is running out. Worse is the sense of bone-deep grief, as if Cory is missing part of his soul.

Desperate for answers, he hops a bus for Fox Hollow, a town famous for psychics, mediums, and those with supernatural abilities. Then a stranger calls Cory by name and casts a furtive glance around him. “There’s no time,” the man says. “I need your help. Remember…” Can Cory unlock his missing memories and rescue the stranger before it’s too late?

Imaginary Lover is full of dangerous magic, hurt/comfort, brave monster hunters, dark curses, sincere psychics, found family, and forever love.

Imaginary Lover is the eighth book in the multi-author series, Beyond the Realm: Remember. Each book is set in its own world and can be read as a standalone novel. Join eight authors on eight very different, romantic, and magical stories as each one writes their own take on the same concept.

Available on Kindle, KU and in paperback!

Bio

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy male/male paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic fantasy and urban fantasy, and together with co-author hubby Larry N. Martin, steampunk and comedic horror, all of which have less romance, more explosions. Characters from her Gail books make frequent appearances in secondary roles in her Morgan books, and vice versa.

On the rare occasions Morgan isn’t writing, she’s either reading, cooking, or spoiling two very pampered dogs.

Series include Witchbane, Badlands, Treasure Trail, Kings of the Mountain and Fox Hollow.

Watch for more in these series, plus new series coming soon!
