“Let’s go to my room.”

I bowed my head, then followed him to his room.

His room was on the other side of the manor, and it was small compared to mine. The room was neat, not at all what you’d expect from a bachelor. There were two photos on the nightstand. In one he was with several men in uniform. His brothers in arms. And in the other photos, he was standing with a bunch of people—old and young—smiling, easy, and carefree.

Must be his family.

My eyes moved to the small study table on the other side of the bed with an open laptop, a lamp, and a water bottle on it.

“What did you want to talk about?”

I jumped and whirled around, my heart skittering in my chest. He was leaning against the closed door, arms crossed over his chest, green eyes peeling my soul bare. He motioned for me to sit on the bed. When I sat, he bowed his head slightly, waiting for me to speak.

“I need my phone. I-I-I need to check my emails. Something h-happened at work. It’s important.”

“Did something happen to your band?”wicked seal teaser
I forgot he knew what I did professionally.

“Yes. Sort of.” I shrugged.

He cocked his head to the side, eyes narrowing. “Sort of?”

“Yeah.” I gave a slow nod. “So, can I have it?”

His gaze was locked on me for several heartbeats. It made me twitchy, exposed. “You only need to check your emails?”

“Yes, sir.”

He straightened, a slight twitch in his jaw. Then, he walked toward the study table and woke his laptop. “You can use my laptop. I use a secure network that cannot be traced easily. Whereas your phone network is easily tracked down.”

“Thank you.”

“I’m sorry I cannot give you your cellphone. If word gets out, everyone will demand to have their phone. I cannot have that.”

“I understand.”

“You have five minutes,” he said, and moved to the other end of the room.

I nodded, and whispered, “Yes, sir.”

After checking the important emails and responding to them, my finger hovered over the spam tab, unsure what I’d find there, but something propelled me to click over it and check the junk emails.

There were several emails from one particular address. Ruin you at the rate of Gmail dot com.

Nerves skittered through me, and my hands started to shake. I swallowed hard and clicked the first of them open. A chill slithered through my veins, freezing my blood.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I knew who the emails were from. Jackson. It had to be him. Only he would come up with user IDs like those.

From: Ruin you

To: Silas Jarek

Subject: A gift to remember me.

Hello, Silas.

Did you miss me? Did you think things were over between us? Never, Silas. Never. You are mine. You always will be. Now and forever.

If you still haven’t figured out who this is, let me refresh your memory. This is Jackson, your fiancé, your lover, your DADDY.

And… I have something for you. Something to remind you who you belong to. Who owns you—body, soul, and mind. It’s in the attached folder.

Now, don’t keep me waiting. Check your gift, then reply back to me. I hope you like them as much as I love seeing them. They remind me of good times. The best time we’ve ever had.

Your Master,

Jack.

Tears welled in my eyes. Fast, fast, fast, sliding down my cheeks. An ache thumped in my chest. Pushing and pushing and pushing against my ribcage.

With a trembling finger, I clicked on the zip file, and my heart stopped, then plummeted into my stomach.

Down, down, down it went, and with it my shattered soul.

A strained whimper made its way out of my mouth. A sob burned in my throat, rising to come, to roar. I clamped a hand over it, my body shuddering, shaking.

Bent.

Bound.

And broken.

The three words shrill in my head. I was none of those.

Jackson had sent the same pictures—at least I hoped they were the same photos Tylen had seen this morning—to me. A backup, because somehow he knew I wasn’t at home.

I needed to delete them. I needed to delete them before Daddy Mike could see. I wiped the tears off my cheeks, under my eyes and chin, and moved my index finger on the cursor to close the several photos of me.

“Who sent those?”

The blood drained from my face, and I sat still, heart racing.

“Who sent those pictures, Silas?”

There was a biting edge to his voice, an unrestrained fury. I could feel it circling around me like a storm. To destroy. To rage.

“My ex,” I whispered, my voice breaking. I closed my eyes, ready to die right then and there.

“What’s his name?”

I shook my head, unable to speak.

“Tell me his name, Silas.”

A command. One that I was ready to ignore, but still couldn’t. Warm fingers curled into my shoulders, sending my pulse spiking.

I pulled out of his grip and leaned forward to the laptop. Quickly, I logged out and shut the laptop close, then slowly faced him. “Thank you for letting me use your laptop. I’ll show myself out,” I murmured and walked to the door, but stopped at the words that came out next from his mouth.

“I can help you.”

A peal of empty laughter howled out of my mouth. “No one can help me.” I looked at him over my shoulder. “Not even you.”
