Today I am so pleased to welcome Patricia Logan to Joyfully Jay. Patricia has come to share an exclusive excerpt from her book, True Blue. She has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving her a big welcome!
We walked to his Honda Civic, parked on the driveway. The moment we got in and he turned the key, Vampire rock screeched out of the speakers. The sound sent a jolt of electricity up my spine, practically spiking my hair straight up in the air.
“Christ!” I shouted over the blasting music in a language I’d never heard before as Vincent grinned widely at me and reached for the knob, turning down the volume. I felt my hair relax and blew out a breath.
“Sorry. Verdeehereerder Starumphestaghleyeyeee is one of my favorite artists and she insists we play her CDs at a higher volume. They’re really quite soothing if you understand the language,” Vincent said, shrugging his shoulders.
I stuck my fingers in both ears, twisting them to make sure cerebral spinal fluid wasn’t leaking out of them as I glared at him. “Yeah, that was super soothing!” I shouted, still half deaf. “And, by the way, I’m not even going to try to pronounce that name,” I grumbled loudly. “Besides, I’m pretty sure that ‘song’ was full of burps, farts, and squeals.”
Vincent laughed. “That instrument is called a phlegumharghryyym.”
“Funny, I would have guessed it was phlegm.”
He laughed again. “No, it’s a vampire instrument which makes tones that probably sound like burps and squeals to the human ear. I wouldn’t know,” he explained with a grin. “It sounds like pure heaven to my ears.”
I laughed. “And farts. Burps, farts, and squeals,” I said. “Don’t forget the farts.”
My vampire laughed. “And farts…I stand corrected.”
“Whatever…” I grinned like an idiot. “If you like it, play it, just keep the volume down, please. I really need my eardrums.”
Vincent smiled and dug into the console between the seats. He triumphantly held up a CD and shoved it at me. “Is this more to your taste?”
I looked down at the Best of Yanni CD in my hands and shuddered before looking up at him. I handed it back with a grimace before closing my eyes and leaning back on the headrest.
“Just put the vampire CD back in and turn up the volume. If I have to die, at least it’ll be quick.”
Prosper Woods Chronicles, Book 2
An ancient rival? A gay unicorn? A crusty old witch who should be in diapers? The dumbest progeny anyone could ever have? Shifters who come in herds?
Kill me, right effing now!
Vincent and Sheriff Romeo are my chance to find peace at last. I’ve been waiting for someone to notice I’m gone for a long time. Until the vampire showed up, I wasn’t sure anyone could help. All I want to do is move on to the next step… and I really need to rest.
Vincent and Romeo, you’re my only hope.
Strange things are happening in Prosper Woods, California. Ever since moving here, my life has turned upside down. Some things have been amazing, like falling head over heels for Vincent Lasco, a gorgeous vampire. Other things have been weirder than I could ever imagine. I’ve learned a truth about myself, and it came as a massive shock. Most of the town residents have quirks of their own. Let’s just say, nothing is boring about this bizarre place.
Supernaturals flourish here!
Sheriff, Romeo Harmon makes me happier than I’ve ever been. He’s kind, funny, and honest to the core, just the kind of man I used to be, centuries ago. I have a new lease on my long life. Things could go on just the way they are but there’s something I’ve been asked do before that happens. I need to help Romeo find a sweet little boy and finally lay him to rest.
Who knew ghosts could have broken hearts?
