Excerpt
An hour later, Brady comes in and tosses my book to the side. “You’re coming downstairs. I don’t want to bring in the new year without you.”
“I don’t want to be around everyone,” I grumble, picking up my book from where he tossed it.
Brady snatches it away again and hides it behind his back. “The adults are in the living room. Our friends are in the basement, and the girls are at the table doing some artsy craft thing with their friends.”
“No, I hate being the extra all the time. You can all make out with your girlfriends, and I’ll just stay up here reading a book.”
“Zach…come on. You can even sit on my lap while we play games and be my partner.”
“Your girlfriend isn’t going to want me sitting on your lap.”
He throws the book to the side and scoops me up off the bed. “My girlfriend will have to get over it.” He refuses to let me down, even when I kick my feet trying to get away. “Come on, Honey.”
The traitorous dog trots after us as if Brady is the boss, and she doesn’t have to save me. He carries me down and directly to the basement steps, saving me from seeing everyone else.
Connor notices him carrying me over and grins. “I see he told you no, too.”
“Yep, and kicked and screamed like a little girl when I didn’t give him a choice.” Brady sits down where they are playing Catan and swivels me on his lap so I’m facing the table.
“I did not scream like a little girl.”
“You’re pouting like one right now,” he teases me, reaching around to play some cards.
“It’s sulking, not pouting. Big difference.”
Connor pokes me in the side until Brady smacks his hand. “Stop poking him.”
Leaning back against Brady, I watch everyone play but stay quiet. Being close to Brady is worth just sitting here. Carrie looks at us many times, and I wonder if she wants to claw my eyes out. Because if Brady was my boyfriend, I’d never let another guy sit on his lap.
“If you’re tired of sitting on his lap, I can trade you,” she says after the game is over and they are starting another one.
Brady answers for me. “No, he’s fine where he’s at.”
I really think that we’ve gotten so used to being touchy and close with each other that he forgets not everyone thinks this is normal.

A love story you can live in…
Zach
Brady is my overprotective best friend, and I love him like this. He’s so much bigger than me and makes me feel safe. We are opposites in so many ways, but when I’m cuddled up against him and he reads to me, all those differences fade away. Brady promises to be friends forever, but what will he say when he finds out my secret? Will I lose my best friend and the boy I love more than life itself?
Brady
Zach is so tiny and tenderhearted. All I want to do is protect him from the world. He’s my sweet bookworm and never wants to hurt anyone. I love my best friend, but how do I give him all of me when I don’t understand myself yet? If nothing else, I can shower him with all the acceptance and love he deserves.
Zach and Brady come from completely different social and religious backgrounds, but they don’t let that weaken their friendship. Both teens have to go through a journey of self-discovery, including all the heartaches and joys that come with growing up. As they get older, will they find themselves and how they fit together?
You’re my Home is a sweet and emotional coming of age story. It’s a slow-burn, hurt/comfort, teen best friends to adult lovers romance. There will be tears, laughter, new friends, and steamy lovemaking as Zach and Brady learn the meaning of true acceptance of oneself and others.
**Trigger warnings: domestic violence, trauma, PTSD, and religious homophobia.
