Falling in Love with Shifters

I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of people being able to change into animal form—especially if they are aware of both the human and fuzzy sides of themselves at all times. So when I kicked off my own series about shifters with Huntsman (Fox Hollow Zodiac series), I knew I was going to enjoy exploring what it would be like to have all those cool abilities.

I just didn’t realize how much fun it would be!

Fox Hollow is a town in the northern Adirondacks that is a haven for shifters who don’t fit in with their own kind. There’s one big rule—Thou shalt not eat thy neighbor. The town also gave sanctuary to a group of psychics, witches and Spiritualists who were forced out of Lily Dale back in the late 1800s and established the Fox Institute, a center for the study of parapsychology. It’s a place full of magic and the supernatural where anything can happen—and does.

I love the interplay between my characters’ human and animal sides, who tease, bicker, support and comfort each other while coming from very different perspectives. It’s so much fun to write characters whose human sides have a resemblance to the traits of their shifter halves, and vice versa. Expect Fox Hollow characters to show up in each other’s books, and crossovers by characters from all my other series!

Huntsman introduced readers to Fox Hollow with the story of a wolf shifter still grieving the death of his husband, and a fox shifter on the run from a hired killer. Imaginary Lover (part of the Beyond the Realm: Remember multi-author series but set in Fox Hollow) focused on a stranger who wakes up by the side of the road with no memory of who he is or how he got there—haunted by visions of a dream lover in dire need of rescue.

Haven (part of the Magic Emporium multi-author series and set in Fox Hollow) features a psychic detective and a historian who can see ghosts digging into old missing persons cases that have a dark connection to the supernatural. Nutty for You is the tale of how a squirrel shifter with a fondness for fan fiction falls in love and saves the man of his dreams. Romp features an otter shifter in love with a beaver shifter who has been cursed to forget his human side.

Which brings us to Gruff, and goat shifters in love! Gruff a loose retelling of the classic fairy tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff, which first appeared as part of the Fables Retold collection, and will be released as a standalone book in early August. Gruff is a suspenseful MM paranormal romance mystery-adventure full of sexy shifters, adorable fainting goats, hurt/comfort, second chance love, age gap attraction, sincere psychics, scary faeries, protective squirrels, found family, and fated mates.

I’m also part of a ‘super secret’ multi-author project that will be revealed in late August, and my story involves a possum shifter, a raccoon shifter, and sinfully delicious donuts. Stay tuned for details!

Now that I know how much fun shifter romance is, I know that I’ll be writing Fox Hollow stories for a long time to come!

Goat shifters in love! Brave goats, wicked fae, and a cursed castle

Supernatural historian and goat shifter Adiel Nielson moved to Fox Hollow to write about the town’s unique history as a haven for shifters and psychics. He never expects to encounter the cute guy he flirted with at a rest stop–or to discover that Joel is a shifter as well—and the photographer assigned to his project.

Sparks fly between them, but a misunderstanding threatens their relationship. Then Joel disappears, taken by the fae, and Adiel is the only one who can rescue him.

Nothing tests true love like a fight to the death against three faerie monsters!

Gruff is a suspenseful MM paranormal romance mystery-adventure full of sexy shifters, adorable fainting goats, hurt/comfort, second chance love, age gap attraction, sincere psychics, scary faeries, protective squirrels, found family, and fated mates.

Gruff takes place in the town of Fox Hollow but can be read as a stand-alone from the other Fox Hollow books.
