Today I am so pleased to welcome Casey Cox to Joyfully Jay. Casey has come to talk to us about a new release, Got Me Hoping. Casey has also brought along a great giveaway. Please join me in giving a big welcome!
Excerpt
Once we step onto his porch, Noah turns to me with a serious look. “Now, I have to warn you about something.”
My pulse ticks up a notch. I wasn’t getting any weird serial killer vibes from the guy, but hey, you never know. Serial killers can live in nice, quiet suburban neighborhoods.
His expression softens. “You’re in for a licking.”
“Excuse me?”
“Hear that?”
He points to the front door, and I lean toward it. Muffled pants are coming from the other side.
“That’s Buddy,” Noah says with a grin. “He’s a golden retriever I rescued a few years back. He’s starting to go blind, but he likes to lick everything…and everyone.”
“Got it.” The tension in my shoulders evaporates. I reach out and run the back of my fingers against Noah’s cheeks. “I’m down for a good licking.”
Noah closes the space between us and cups my face in his big hands. Our mouths press together, softly at first. The tenderness surprises me in the best way possible. He’s being polite, which I find charming.
His tongue flicks past my lips and begins to explore the inside of my mouth. He’s taking his time, like he’s savoring me. I don’t mind one bit. I wrap my arms around his waist to draw him in even closer. A low growl rumbles its way from the back of his throat, escaping through the tiny sliver of space between our lips. I can feel his erection pressing against mine. Also very charming.
A torrent of heat ripples through my body, negating the chilly night air, as our kiss deepens. Any hesitation he may have had disappears as he drags his fingers through my hair and claims my mouth with his tongue. Unfortunately, we’re interrupted by the sounds of an impatient retriever scratching away at the inside of the front door.
Noah smiles against my mouth. “You ready for the Buddy onslaught?”
“Bring it on.”
Noah opens the door, and boy, he wasn’t kidding. Seventy pounds of golden-haired fuzz leaps out onto the porch. Buddy licks Noah first. His face, his ears, his hands. When he’s done, he turns to me. Without any hesitation, he bounds straight on top of me, smattering me with a waterfall of wet licks.
We make our way inside. Noah closes the door behind me before helping me take my jacket off. “It’s bedtime,” I hear him say. Thankfully, it’s aimed at Buddy and not me.
I’m impressed to see Buddy respond immediately, turning around and scampering down the hallway. “He sleeps in the laundry room,” Noah tells me as he presses another kiss to my lips. “Which just so happens to be on the way to my bedroom.”
“Well, what are we waiting for?”

Vet Shop Boys, Book 1
It’s just a one-night stand, they said. It’ll be simple, no-strings fun, they said. They. Lied.
I’m done with love and being broken-hearted. The only dogs I want to deal with are the ones I treat in the veterinary clinic I work at.
But at thirty-four, having my first one-night stand can’t hurt. Right? The rules are pretty simple.
- Don’t spend the night.
- Don’t see him again.
- Don’t share anything personal.
- Don’t fall in love with him.
But when Haze, the guy I spent a blazing hot night with and haven’t been able to forget about, shows up as our new receptionist, the rules fly out the window.
There’s no way one night could lead to anything more. So why has Haze got me hoping this might just last?
Got Me Hoping is book 1 in the Vet Shop Boys series and can be read as a stand-alone. Expect plenty of humor, found family, an adorable golden retriever, a foul-mouthed parrot, a whole new way of getting clean (as well as very, very dirty) and a heartwarming happily ever after!
Bio
I’ve been wanting to do this ‘authoring’ thing since forever. But this thing called ‘life’ kept getting in the way. And then this thing called ‘turning 40’ happened. Eep!
So I did what any responsible newcomer to middle-age-hood would do: I quit my day job, started drinking copious amounts of coffee, and reconnected with my life long passion–donuts, er, I mean writing.
So here I am. And there you are… Hello!
I live on the east coast of Australia, I’m the proud paw-rent of two of the most utterly adorable French Bulldogs, Ralphie and Lilly, and when I’m not writing, you’ll most likely catch me down at the beach (I’m the one drinking Rosé and eating donuts while other people are doing healthy things like ‘walking’ and ‘swimming’).
