news and notes badgeHi all! Just wanted to take a minute to update you on various goings on here with a few announcements.

September Vacation!

I am super excited that my husband and I will be taking a two-week trip to England in September! This is a Covid-delayed trip to celebrate our 25th anniversary and 50th birthdays and I Can. Not. Wait. (It will also be ten days after dropping my youngest off at college and becoming and empty nester, so I am definitely going to be ready for a distraction!) Normally when I travel, I either work on blog stuff while I am gone, or my reviewers and guest posters get me all the content in advance. Unfortunately, for this trip, neither is going to work since I really don’t want to spend my trip worrying about getting blog posts up on time, nor is it realistic to prepare two+ weeks (with travel time) in advance.

So, what does mean? Well, we won’t be on hiatus, but we will be taking a major slowdown while I am gone. We do have reviews planned, but rather than 3-4 posts per day, we will likely only be running a handful a week. This seemed like the best balance to keep getting content out there, but also to make things manageable for me and my team. I will keep you all apprised of plans, and we will have Coming This Week posts, so you will know what is running, but just wanted to give you all a heads up that this was happening.

Which means that…

Reading Challenge Month is in November!

If you are a regular around here, you probably know we do Reading Challenge Month every September. However, that is obviously not going to work with me gone. I debated pushing it to October, but with having limited planning time while gone, and GRL for a week in October, that seemed too tight. So our current plan is to run the event in November. I think it will give a fun twist to challenges to do it slightly later in the year. We can get some fall and winter themes that could be fun. So look for a LOT more information as we get closer, but I wanted to let you all know about the change, as I typically start promoting the event in August and I figured there would be questions why it was so quiet.

And finally…

We are Looking for More Reviewers!

I am lucky to have the most fabulous team of reviewers here, and we are looking for a few folks to join us. After seven years, our amazing reviewer Sue will be moving on to focus on other projects at some point in September. And of course, Kenna retired from the blog and we lost our beloved Sammy, both over the last couple of years. So come this fall, we will be down several folks and I would love to bring in some new readers who are excited about the genre and interested in reviewing here.

So here are the details. Yes, you should love to read, love LGBTQ romance, and enjoy sharing your opinions about books. Yes, it also important that you are organized enough to keep track of what books you are reviewing and write those reviews in a timely way. No, you do not have to have experience reviewing, nor do you need to be a professional writer. However, I will ask to see some sort of samples of your reviewing/writing style, even you just write something new.

More details: We provide the books, you provide the reviews. You don’t need to review every genre (contemporary, historical, paranormal), but reading a variety is definitely helpful. You don’t need to read every pairing (MM, FF, etc) but again, a variety is helpful. You can choose how many books you review a week or month based on your personal schedule or availability.

If you are at all interested, please send me an email and we can talk further. I’d love to hear from you, so please don’t be shy!

Thanks!
