Chapter 14: Ferris Valedmar

“Please tell me you’ve never been hospitalized because of sex,” I said, a pit of dread forming in my stomach after hearing his last unbelievable story.

“I could, but I don’t want to lie to you,” he said in a teasing tone.

His response made me regret bringing it up. “What happened?”

“Eh, it wasn’t that bad. The first time I had shower sex, the guy I was with lost his footing, taking me out with him. I ended up hitting the faucet on the way down and cracking a few of my ribs. After we finished—”

I had to stop him there. “By ‘after we finished,’ do you mean you still had sex with him and then dealt with your fractured ribs?”

“Maaaaaaaybe.” I could hear the grin in his voice.

Maybe?”

He snickered. “Okay, definitely did.”

I sighed at the revelation. “I’m not sure whether to be impressed or upset with you for that.”

“In fairness, you can be both.” He laughed when I huffed in annoyance, stroking my hair to soothe me. “He was at least a gentleman and took me to the ER to get X-rays afterward as an apology. Besides, it wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t like they punctured my lung or anything traumatic like that. It just hurt every time I breathed.”

“Oh, is that all?” I rolled my eyes at his attempt at downplaying it. “You’re unbelievable sometimes.”

“Admittedly, it makes me leery of trying new things at this point. The odds something will go wrong are so high that it needs to be something spectacularly worth the risk.”

Despite my horror, I was still curious. “Have you ever done anything sexual on a plane?”

“Hell no. I’m not risking a plane full of people crashing because I tried joining the mile-high club.”

“Normally, I’d tease you about that, but after hearing your stories, I congratulate you on doing the responsible thing to keep the plane in the sky by keeping your dick in your pants.”

“It’s a small price to pay,” Tiago joked.

I marveled at everything he had told me. “Damn, you put my mishaps to shame. Sneaking out of a window wouldn’t crack your top ten list of sexual exploits gone wrong.”

“Ha, it wouldn’t even make the top twenty-five. And my experience with it was similar to yours, except mine ended with a trip to the ER because I broke my arm.”

I groaned at his revelation. “Seriously?”

“They didn’t have a pool house for me to land on, so it was a straight drop from the second-floor window to the ground below. Needless to say, I didn’t stick the landing. But I was grateful it was my arm and not my leg because his dad would have killed me if he caught me.” Tiago made a disapproving tsk noise at the memory.

“Why?”

“Because the guy’s dad was a bigoted pastor who thought gay people were a sin. If he had caught me ‘corrupting’ his son, it would not have ended well for either of us.” Tiago huffed in amusement. “Of course, in the ultimate irony, his dad was caught cruising for men in a sting operation later that weekend. Mr. Praise God Almighty himself got arrested with his pants around his ankles, getting railed by a sex worker in a public park bathroom.”

Whoa. That’s fucked-up.”

Tiago sighed as he held me closer. “It at least has a happy ending for Jeddy. He—”

“You seriously were with a guy named Jeddy?” How was it the names of his partners kept getting stranger?

“His real name was Jedediah, but he hated it for the obvious reasons. He tried to go by Jedi because he was a Star Wars fan, but Jeddy was the nickname that stuck with him.”

I still couldn’t wrap my head around that. “Like, you were in the middle of things and moaning, ‘Oh, Jeddy, that’s so good,’ without laughing yourself right off the bed?”

Blurb

changing his tune coverFerris is straight, so why can’t he stop wishing his fake flirtations with his best friend would become real?

Tiago Álvarez

Flirting with Ferris is one of my favorite hobbies. He always playfully rejects me because he’s straight, but I don’t let that get my hopes down. That’s why I’m so shocked when he agrees to my silly idea to drive our fangirls wild by pretending there might be something more to our friendship.

But I secretly have an ulterior motive in convincing my best friend that we should share our hilarious banter with the fans. I want to make him see that we could have something real if he gave us a chance.

It’s obvious how much fun he has teasing me, so I wonder if maybe Ferris isn’t as straight as he used to be?

Ferris Valdemar

I’ve been telling Tiago no for so long that I don’t know how to tell him yes. But I really want to give in to my feelings for him that I’ve been running away from for far too long.

When he comes up with his scheme to fake flirting with each other for our fans, it gives me the opportunity I need to come clean about my not-so-straight feelings for my gay best friend.

But how do I tell Tiago that I want to be more than just friends?
