Chapter 7

I slipped out from the embrace needing to catch my breath before I did something crazy like melt into his arms. “I don’t know what you’re expecting here.” I folded my arms across my chest. “But I’ve got things to do today. I was just headed to shower and get ready.”

“Don’t worry about me. Go ahead.” Marcus sat down on the sofa and made himself comfortable. He closed his eyes and sighed.

What the fuck was he doing? And why was he here?

I shook my head as I walked back to the bathroom. Turning on the shower, I stripped out of my clothes, then tossed them in the hamper for the housekeeper.

Maybe a shower would help me clear my head. Fucking Marcus Monroe!

The warm water helped ease the tension I’d felt since Marcus arrived. The soothing sounds of the falling water relaxed me as I braced both hands on the wall as the water fell onto my head.

I’m not sure how long I’d stood there before two familiar hands wrapped around my body when I reached for my shampoo, startling me.

“What are you doing in here?” I turned to see Marcus naked.

God damn, he was beautiful. Did I want to kick him out? No, but I was not going to make this easy on him.

“I needed a shower. I took the first flight from Chicago and needed to clean up.” He smirked at me.

“You can wait. Get out.” I tried to push him away.

“I’m already wet, and why waste water? Remember all the showers we took together back in college? Great for the environment and all.”

“Seattle doesn’t have a water shortage like Southern California. You can take your own shower, alone.” I could hear the waiver in my voice, as could Marcus. Damn him.

He reached over and took the shampoo from me. “I still think we should do our part to conserve water.”

He replaced the bottle on the shelf once he had some in his big hands. I watched as he rubbed them together, frowning and wondering what he would do with that much shampoo.

“Do you really want me to go, babe? I was going to give you a massage. You seem tense.”

I watched as he rubbed his hands together, lathering up the shampoo.

“Fine.”

Bios

rheland richmand logoFor as long as she can remember Rheland’s had her nose stuck in a book, getting lost in the world of someone else’s creation (She still does). Her love for writing came from her love for reading. She could never have one without the other.

Writing has always been a hobby and a cathartic experience for her. There are many stories lost to the never to be completed or published pile but needed to be written at the time.?

She’s just a girl that loved stories so much she wrote hers. ?

Rheland would love to hear from her readers and learn more about Y’all. So if you get a chance… please get in touch.

emerson beckett bioWho is Emerson Beckett? That’s a good question.

I’m a retired educator who loves all things romance and an avid reader and consumer of well-written M/M romance books.

My journey to becoming an author started with an idea I had one night while I sat reading on my sofa. That idea became an email that ultimately resulted in me editing for three wonderfully talented M/M romance authors. The third referral led to an opportunity to co-write with one of the most genuine and kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. (She’s my co-author for Quarterback Keeper.)

I’m a wife and a mother of three beautiful adults, one of which is trans and responsible for my love of this genre. All three have since left us with an empty nest that is now full of pets.

Emerson would love to hear from her readers. So if you get a chance… Get in touch.
