“Come on,” Michael said, taking François’ arm. “I’ll take you for your first ride.”
“It’s been a while since anyone said that,” Darryl said with a smirk. “You kids have fun. I’ll be watching.”
Michael and François walked over to the sledges. A huge snowball fight had distracted a lot of people, so they had quite the choice. Michael selected a long red one. “This okay?”
François nodded.
“You’re not nervous, are you?” Michael asked.
“Pah,” he retorted. “Of course I’m not. There is nothing you can ride that I can’t.”
Michael laughed. “Time to put that theory to the test, big boy.”
They walked to the top of the hill. A couple of young lads with alarmingly ruddy cheeks nearly knocked them over.
“It seems like a good run,” Michael said as he watched them scoot down the hillside.
“I’m only doing this because Darryl would tease me otherwise.” François sniffed. “If my mother could see me now, she would be horrified.”
François had never spoken about his family before, and Michael was intrigued. But it wasn’t time for a chat. Standing at the top of the hill, it was a lot steeper than it had seemed from below.
“Do you want to go in front or behind?” he asked, painfully aware of the double entendre in his words.
“So far, I’ve only seen you behind, so let’s stick with that. For now,” François replied.
His words were equally laden with meaning. Michael had topped both Darryl and François, but he hadn’t bottomed for either.
“Are we doing this or what?” François had got onto the front of the sledge and was staring up at him expectantly. Michael slid in behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist. François leant against him.
“Ready?” Michael said into his ear.
François gripped onto his arms. “I was born ready, Michael Fleming,” he replied.
With a kick, Michael launched the sledge off the ridge, and they hit the steep decline with force. He realised he’d probably given it a bit too much strength as their weight gave the little craft speed.
François let out a whoop of exhilaration as they sped past other villagers. Michael held on to him tightly as they reached the bottom of the hill.
But they didn’t stop and were headed straight for the boggy pond in the corner of the field.
“Bail!” Michael shouted.
He and François rolled off the sledge, into the snow, ending up in a tangle of limbs. The next thing, François’ lips were on him, kissing him furiously. When they broke and got up, François’ face was flushed. “That was bloody brilliant. Can we go again?”

Village Affairs, Book 3
When a billionaire and his assistant bring change to the village, Michael has to adapt…
The future’s uncertain for Michael Fleming. He came to the sleepy Yorkshire village of Napthwaite a year ago as Thorpe Hall’s gardener, but now the Hall’s been sold…to billionaire hotelier Darryl Burlington.
When self-made Darryl and his handsome French assistant, François Vernier, come to set up the new property acquisition, they plan to find a willing third party to share their bed. Darryl and François aren’t together, but they like to celebrate success. But instead of indulging themselves in a treat after their hard work, they trigger events which no one could have foreseen.
This chain reaction Darryl, François and Michael leads to big changes in Napthwaite—and in all three men’s lives…
Bio
I have written for as long as I could write. In fact, before, when I would dictate to my auntie. I love to read, and I love to create worlds and characters.
I live in the English countryside. When I’m not writing, I like to get out there and think through the next scenario I’m going to throw my characters into.
Inspiration can be found anywhere, on a train, in a restaurant or in an office. I am always in search of the next character to find love in one of my stories. In a world of apps and online dating, it is important to remember love can be found when you least expect it.
