“Can you imagine what it was like to come to Hollywood in the early sixties with fifty dollars and a duffel bag if you looked and spoke like Mr. G? He said he never wanted to be an actor, but he’s been acting his whole life—pretending to like sports and women and…and…shades of navy blue.”

“What’s wrong with navy blue?”

“It’s ho-hum. A classic navy has its place for sure, but Mr. G prefers brighter hues. He adores pinks, light greens, intricate patterns, and anything sparkly.”

“Like you?” he teased.

“I’m not sparkly.”

“Yeah, you are.”

I rolled my eyes. “I think we’re done here.”

Pierce washed his hands and flicked water at me before drying them on a dish towel. “So…what now? Are you staying at the house?”

“No, I need to go to the store and check in.”

“Okay, well…let me know what happens with the old guy.”

“I will. And thanks again for—”

“I didn’t do anything,” he interrupted, pulling his cell from his pocket. “Gimme your number. I’ll call you so you have mine.”

“You want my number? No, you should call Enid for updates. Not me.”

Pierce huffed irritably. “No, thanks. Enid likes me. You don’t. And somehow that makes a big difference in my world.”

“I like you just fine,” I protested.

“Meh, you’re not sold, but I’m growing on you.” He pushed his phone at me. “Number me, Lorenzo.”

“Lo.”

“Lo-o,” he repeated, making a meal out of that vowel. “You said your friends call you Lo, right?”

I tapped my info into his cell and handed it over. “Yes. Or Enzo or Zo, but rarely Lorenzo.”

“Cool. I guess that makes us friends.”

“Don’t get ahead of yourself,” I snarked.

“Geez, and I was just thinking this was one of those ‘once in a blue moon’ bonding moments. If we were at a concert or something, we’d totally be making out now.”

I opened and closed my mouth. Twice. “We are not making out.”

“We could,” he teased.

“No, we can’t. Good-bye, Pierce.”

Pierce barked a laugh and held out his hand for a fist bump. I stared for a moment, then gently tapped his knuckles. He found my reticence hysterical. When he finally sobered, he hit me with Baxter’s signature smile—the one I’d seen on billboards all over LA. A roguish, lopsided grin that spelled trouble in every language known to man.

I was not immune. My pulse zinged and skittered, and my heart skipped a few beats.

Damn it. That was not okay.

Blurb

baxter's right hand manThe Baxter Chronicles, Book 2

The movie star meets his match…

Pierce

Welcome to Hollywood, baby! Perhaps you’ve heard of me. I play Baxter, the adventure-seeking, crime-fighting hero, adored by fans around the world. Nice gig, right? My job has its perks for sure—private jets, a chauffeur, and the best tables at the fanciest restaurants in town. It’s nuts!

Downside—it’s hard to know who you can trust.

But I trust Lorenzo. He’s funny, sweet, and very real.

Look, I’m not in the market for anything serious. Between my greedy brother and the old man who claims we’re related, I’m a little wary, but I could use a friend.

And a sexy distraction.

Lorenzo

What is happening here? Major movie star, Pierce Allen wants me.

Me!

I don’t get it. I’m too fabulous and he’s too famous.

No, wait. He wants something from me, like my help and maybe my body. This should be a no-brainer. However, closing the last chapter on a long-term relationship has left me feeling a little fragile, and the last thing I need is to risk another broken heart.

But I’m too intrigued to walk away. I can play the part of Pierce’s “right-hand man” and keep things light and friendly. No problem.

I’m way too smart to fall for a movie star.

I hope.

Baxter’s Right-Hand Man is a MM, bisexual romance featuring a sexy, slightly egotistical movie star and the adorable diva who brings him back to reality.
