“Mike, I’m a homosexual.” Too formal.
“Mike, I’m gayer than a two-dollar bill.” Too antiquated, he might not understand.
“Mike, I am a proud member of the alphab—”
“I get it, you’re gay,” Mike hollered from the hallway, the booming voice making him flinch. “Just don’t leave any pocket rockets in the shower.”
“What?” Lennox hollered back. “Why would I leave a toy rocket in the bathroom? Why would I have a toy rocket in the bathroom? I mean, maybe a toy boat…”
“A back door plunger? A selfie stick? Wand of plentiful pleasure? Dude, your fucking dildo, got it?” Mike laughed, then Lennox heard him smack the door for emphasis.
“Oh!” Lennox blurted, grateful no one could see how red he turned. “I um…I don’t have one? So, no worries. I won’t leave…that…in the shower.”
“Wait, seriously?” Before Lennox could protest, Mike pushed open the door and peered into Lennox’s room. He looked honestly shocked. “What self-respecting gay man doesn’t have a dildo? I mean, no offense, but I’m like, totally straight, and I have a really nice one. Not too long, not too thick, hits the spot just…” Mike did a chef’s kiss with his fingers. “Perfect.”
Lennox must have looked shocked, because Mike grinned and stepped fully inside the room, leaning against the frame with far too much casualness for the conversation. Personally, Lennox wanted to find a hole in the floor and shove his face in it like a teeny-tiny ostrich.
Mike’s grin stretched. “What, you think only you gays like ass play? I mean, just because I like pussy doesn’t mean I don’t have a prostate. I’m just saying, between you and me? Ain’t much better than a girl sucking you off and slipping a finger—”
“Okay,” Lennox interrupted, cringing slightly at the thought. He didn’t need to picture his roommate with anyone’s fingers slipping anywhere. “Yep, I get it. I imagine that would be…nice?”
“Well, I mean you’d want a boy sucking you off and sticking his fingers—”
“O-kay, yep, I get it.” Lennox’s voice was high-pitched. He’d spent the previous twenty years of his life carefully avoiding any talk about sex, and boys, and most especially, sex with boys.
“Great! Then you understand why you absolutely have to have a dildo. Don’t worry, you’re in luck. A buddy of mine works part-time at the Pleasure Emporium.” Mike gyrated his hips obscenely before clapping his hands. He started for the living room without waiting for Lennox to agree, and when Lennox followed him out, Mike was already sitting on the couch, putting his tennis shoes on.
“I really don’t think—”
“Trust me. Once you try one, you’ll never go back to the boring old rub’n’tug again. Come on.” Mike held the door open. “I’ll even drive.”
