The crowd seemed to part on the dancefloor then, making way for someone to saunter through the centre of the throng. Alex hovered his beer at his lips, watching a beauty so astounding it hurt his eyes. The lord of the dancefloor. The star of the night. Blending in as though he belonged, came Nicholas Osbourne.
“He looks familiar.” Charlie raised his voice over the bass. “Is that…?”
“Hamon Farm’s Golden Goose.” Alex stood, knocking back his drink as he watched Nicholas swerve his way through the crowd, then trip and collapse onto the bar a few feet away from him. “Or swan.”
The dark shades concealing Nicholas’s eyes could have explained his fall into the counter, but when he slapped his injured hand on the surface and slurred a, “Your finest bourbon and Coke, Evelyn!” Alex had to assume his crew meeting at the local pub had come with an abundance of drink.
“Jesus,” he muttered under his breath.
Nicholas Osbourne used the nights to plug in the bits he lost of himself during day too.
Evelyn dumped a drink in front of Nicholas, then exchanged whispers with him, pointing over at Alex. Nicholas slid his shades down his nose, revealing the window to his soul, the lies he concealed, the blanketed desire he, too, closed himself off from. Glossy eyes met his, showing a confidence that only came with alcohol and confessed a desire that only came from suppression.
“Alexander Hamon!” Nicholas raised his glass in greeting. “What a lovely surprise seeing you here.” He then slurped some of what Alex knew would be the strongest mix of bourbon and Coke through a paper straw. He grimaced, then threw away the straw and chucked the rest down his throat.
“You’re drunk,” Alex called back.
“I may have had a little tipple, yes.” Nicholas pouted. “Are you mad at me?”
“Why would I be? As long as you show up for work tomorrow, couldn’t care less what you do at night.”
“That a fact?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Don’t care at all?” Nicholas spun to face the dancefloor, elbows propping him up on the bar surface in what Alex assumed was meant to come off as a lecherous pose as he leered at the offerings grinding together before him.
Alex laughed. It was clear that Nicholas Osbourne had never been in a club such as Blend before, nor sat on the sidelines scouting the potential for a quick fuck.
It was nothing if not adorable.
“Where’s your babysitter?” Alex called over to him.
“Ditched him.” Nicholas clicked his fingers at Evelyn, pointing to his empty glass then motioned to the others. “And another round for Alex, of course. Must buy one for the boss and his…” Nicholas peered over his Ray-Bans to Charlie and Darius standing awkwardly between them. “Friends?” He then dragged out his titanium credit card from his back pocket and scanned it on Evelyn’s waiting machine. “Open a tab, Evelyn. Whatever they desire. Before Mother realises she hasn’t cut me off from this one.”
“Will do.” Evelyn grinned at Alex, then rushed off to fulfil the order.
“How did you ditch him?” Alex asked across Charlie and Darius who no doubt wondered whether they were in the way.
They weren’t. Alex needed the barrier.
“It’s been a while, Alex, but I do have to admit that this wasn’t the first time I’ve climbed out of a toilet window to get away from Mother and Father.”
Alex snorted as Evelyn handed them all the next round of shots and chasers, winking at Alex as she did so. He’d kill her. He would. With his bare hands. Then will scatter her remains in the fertiliser.
“Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friends, Alex?” Nicholas slid along the bar, tripping a little, then righting himself as he drank from his tumbler and leaned on his elbow, eyeing Charlie and Darius up as if they were the sole culprits of tax rises for the rich.
“Charlie, Darius, this is Nicholas Osbourne.” Alex gestured to Nicholas. “He’s spending some time on my farm to film some reality documentary series about how the upper classes wouldn’t know hard work if it hit them in the face.”
“Hasn’t quite got me in the face, yet.” Nicholas held up his hand. “It has cut me deep though.” He clutched his chest, denim shirt straining at the open collar to reveal glistening, perfect skin Alex couldn’t help but his lick his lips over.

Flying into Love, Book 5
Can a humble farmer bag himself a true Jersey royal to save his farm…and steal his heart?
Distant royal, Nicholas Osbourne, has one last chance to prove his worth to his wealthy family. A string of bad press over even worse relationships has him agreeing to star in a reality television series getting down and dirty with the ordinary folk. He can live a lie for a week. He’s been doing it for years.
Jersey potato farmer, Alex Hamon, has no time nor patience to babysit a pretentious television crew, nor a work-shy, bratty rich-kid. But the hefty fee and potential promotional opportunities for his farm are too tempting to turn down. He just needs to keep his head in the soil, and not on how his under-the-radar gaydar is blinking overtime for the rogue royal.
Nicholas is out of his depth. Distracted by the stunningly sexy farmer’s son, he’s unable to bury his attraction the way he has been back in London. But he’s on camera. Twenty-four-seven. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. His only saving grace is that the farmer’s son is straight…isn’t he?
Jersey Royal (Flying into Love #5) is an opposites attract, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, rich v poor, first time contemporary MM romance featuring an appearances-is-everything royal with a secret and a temperamental potato farmer with a track record for burying things.
