James Gray loves living in the magical town of Moonlight Falls. He was thrilled to be able to reopen the family electrical business and James works as a magical electrician. He stays away from dark magic and his business is thriving. James has had a lot of personal loss in his life and that has made him leery of relationships, as he doesn’t want anyone to leave him again. When James gets a peculiar letter from Sebastian Storm, his life is going to change in many ways.
James hasn’t seen Sebastian in years. They went to school together and there was an attraction between them, but Sebastian was a loner who was often ostracized. James had heard that Sebastian inherited his family’s home, Storm Manor, a property known throughout town to be haunted, but it’s been years and Sebastian never comes into town. Now, Sebastian is requesting James’ help with an electrical problem at the manor, but there is so much more going on that leaves James perplexed.
Sebastian won’t speak directly about the issues at the manor and the shade infestation makes checking out the dark spaces difficult. But it also seems that Sebastian is making moves on James and each visit leaves James more exasperated, as well as turned on. But there is a mystery to unravel, one that affects Sebastian’s future, and James finds himself being seduced by the man, as well as the mystery.
The Seduction of James Gray is the first full-length book in the Moonlight Falls series. The prequel, The Fall of Elijah Gray, introduced us to the town of Moonlight Falls, the Gray family, and some of the magical happenings plaguing the town. James likes his life, although he can be a little lonely, and the letter from Sebastian is exhilarating, annoying, and perplexing. James never understood Sebastian, not that he ever tried as a teen, and his impression of Sebastian is based on teenage notions. When James first arrives at Storm Manor, he knows something is truly off, but Sebastian isn’t speaking and, while James finds himself infuriated with Sebastian most of the time, he also feels completely drawn to him.
The men are both fulfilling teenage fantasies the closer they get and they start to fall for each other. But the mystery surrounding Sebastian and his home is a large part of the story as well. The pacing here is great, as there is light, but intense, suspense built up throughout the story. The best part is watching the men unravel both the mystery and each other.
There is a lot of detailed information regarding Sebastian’s family’s legacy. Most of it was great to learn, but some of the magic became so detailed and technical that some it started to drift away from me and didn’t add to the story in the way I think it was intended.
This series has a storyline that will continue throughout all of the books. The men will get their full HEA at the end and this book definitely concludes with a “to be continued” situation and there is a lot more for the men to unravel and possibly battle. The next book seems more geared towards Sebastian and I am already looking forward to learning more from his POV and returning to the town of Moonlight Falls.
