Hi everyone! It is hard to believe, but we are about to start our final week of our 5th Annual Reading Challenge Month! Every year the time seems to fly so fast! If you haven’t been following along, there is still one more week to get involved. If you want more details on the event itself, including specifics on how to enter for prizes, check out the kick off post.
This week our challenge is a new one for the event, Older/Younger Hero Week. I think this one needs a bit of explaining because we have a had a little confusion on what it entails. Basically, we are reading books with EITHER an older hero (over 40) or a younger hero (under 21). The book doesn’t have to have both, nor does it need to be an age gap romance (thought it can be). It is just all about books featuring an older OR younger man (and yes, I know 40 isn’t old, but the book options for actual older heroes are pretty thin on the ground). I love this challenge because I really enjoy both new adult stories, as well as books that feature older men finding love in their lives.
As always, what we are reading is listed below, and you are welcome to join us by reading along one of our choices. But if you need some help finding books of your own, here are some links to our reviews that might help: Young Love, Young Adult, Older Hero.
Older/Younger Hero Week is sponsored by JMS Books. They are donating FIVE $20 JMS Bookstore Gift Cards! Hurray! I picked a couple of good books to read; one has a young hero while the other has two forty-plus heroes.
Oh good! Can’t wait to hear about them!
I’m reading Just Drive by L.A. Witt. One of the MCs is over 40
Awesome! Look forward to hearing how you like it!
Ohhhh, I was thinking it was more of an age gap thing. I got two books…one barely qualifies because the older guy turns 40 during the book. I think the other book has a 39 year old MC. I’ll see what else I can find. 🙂
Read the one where he turns 40 if you want. That seems fine with the spirit of the challenge.
I’ll still read it but I may choose another one for the challenge. It takes a lot of research to choose a book, which is always dangerous because I keep adding to my TBR. 🙂
LOL, yes it is!
I have no idea what to pick. While I read both sides of the spectrum sometimes, they’re not exactly age groups I read regularly (usually read stories with characters ages 18+ into later 30s..it just seems to always work out that way =.=;;;; ). I don’t think it helps that I’m not particularly into age gap romances either…I think I might have to dig around for a bit.
You don’t need an age gap. The heroes can be the same age. Just need at least one to fit in the age group fwiw
I think it’ll be easier to read an age gap romance at the rate I’m going, lol. I still have a few days so I’ll hopefully find one that fits.
Awesome! Can’t wait to hear what you pick!
