Jamie Matthews arrives in Cornwall after finding out that his artist brother has gone missing and is presumed dead. The police are convinced Michael drowned while cooling himself off at the beach. Jamie knows Michael was deathly afraid of the water and wouldn’t so much as put a toe in it. Arriving at the cottage his brother rented, Jamie is shocked to find that a stranger is there.

Felix Bergstrom is a former British Army soldier who has an obsession with an old acquaintance and millionaire businessman, Karl Weston. Felix is sure that Karl has something to do with the missing artist who was last seen on the beach below his clifftop mansion…except Karl has an alibi for that day.

Jamie and Felix are instantly attracted to one another, though neither trusts the other as far as he could throw him. The two keep running into one another and the sparks fly. As the two start falling for one another, the danger threatens to tear them apart.

This is a fast paced mystery/suspense that had me on the edge of my seat right up until the end. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, the rug was pulled out from underneath me and I never expected this to end the way that it did.

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t typically fall for the romance brewing between these guys in light of one of them recently learning that his brother was presumed dead – except, in this case, Jamie is convinced that his brother is alive and well. Though the sparks are flying when Jamie and Felix are together, Jamie is determined to keep him at arm’s length…except his mind says one thing while his body says something totally different.

Felix has been keeping a close eye on Karl since the death of his best friend under suspicious circumstances. With the help of a couple of ex-pats/friends, and the convenience of having his clifftop mansion in close proximity to his aunt’s cottages he’s been caretaking for, Felix is hoping to get closure on his friend’s death. When the second mysterious death/disappearance happens, Felix isn’t expecting the subject’s brother to distract him from his mission.

While these two are hot when they are together, I found the bantering back and forth to be smoldering! At one point Felix kisses Jamie and realizes that he is getting aroused, Jamie claims it’s only a “semi,” and Felix notes it was only a kiss! Yep…HOT.

Overall, I really liked this story. If you like mystery/suspense, you’ve got to check this book out! Highly recommend!
